Pomegranates of Passion

This summer for me has been a season of waiting. Waiting in God’s promises, waiting for direction and guidance, waiting for fulfillment of instructions already followed, and battling the urge to produce and learning to obey, trust and rest in Him that it is up to Him to bring to fruition, not in my strive, but in rest. 

It has also been a season of feeling dry and empty, fighting against discouragement in the wait and interestingly enough it has been a very creative season. 

When I first started painting He had already shown me that I would paint fields, plants, flowers, but I didnt”t know when. 

On 6/14/2026, He said: “It is time to paint the garden.”

At times, the Lord will keep me on the same text for a while, and I’ve learned to not rush it, but focus on what He is trying to teach me. 

“My darling bride, my private paradise, fastened to my heart. A secret spring that no one else can have are you— my bubbling fountain hidden from public view. What a perfect partner to me now that I have you. 

Your inward life is now

sprouting, bringing forth fruit.

What a beautiful paradise unfolds within you. When I'm near you, I smell aromas of the finest spice,

for many clusters of my exquisite fruit

now grow within your inner

garden.

Here are the nine:

pomegranates of passion,

henna from heaven.

spikenard so sweet, 

saffron shining,

fragrant calamus from the cross,

sacred cinnamon,

branches of scented woods,

myrrh, like tears from a tree,

and aloe as eagles ascending.

You are a fountain of gardens. A well of living water springs up from within you, like a mountain brook flowing into my heart!

This painting is the first. Pomegranates of passion.

First I will read, then I will look at images, then I look further for understanding. There is a reason these were the plants He chose.

So I looked into Pomegranates and here is what I found:

It is a shrub or small tree with lush glossy leaves and vibrant orange-red flowers. The flowers develop into a leathery-skinned fruit with jewel-like seeds. The plant itself is gorgeous, the contrast of colors, the progress and phases from flowers to fruit, which it said usually takes about three years for a plant to produce fruit. 

The Lord is shaping us and planting in us something so beautiful. In our rush or busy lives, we want instant fruit. The process, the growth, the flowers, then after three years, the fruit. This was to me a reminder to trust His process. 

It also said that the plant thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and that it tolerates drought once established. The process ensures that we are strong and we do not wither during a drought season. To grow and thrive, we need Jesus and the water of the Holy Spirit not to keep, but to let it flow through us. 

Then the seeds within the fruit look like jewels with a fresh and tart taste to it, not sweet, but refreshing. The fruit is produced in fall and winter, not spring, not summer. He makes us fruitful when most other plants go dormant. He makes us fruitful in adverse seasons. And as I looked for health benefits of the seeds, I found that it promotes heart health, protects cells and reduces inflammation. During fall and winter instead of being dormant, we are not only fruitful, but the fruit He is producing in us: protects, heals and strengthens our hearts and our love for Him.

There is so much depth in His Word, and as He teaches me and I discovered yet another glimpse of His love, I continually fall in love with Jesus. 

I hope this painting is a reminder to you not of a finished product or fruit, but the beauty of the process and the purpose of it. He is making you strong, fruitful, and with a heart to love Him.
