Pomegranates of Passion

This painting is part of the Garden Series, and it was the start of it, although it was not the first painting.

During one of my times of worship, I had seen this: me walking on a field, a beautiful morning, wearing a white dress. Not a wheat field, but a field of flowers.

When I started to sketch and paint, the Holy Spirit started giving me instructions on how to do it—the colors, how to arrange the scene, and the style of the painting. Some of it I didn’t understand while I painted. Some things I asked why, and He didn’t reveal it right away, but in time, He gave me understanding.

This past week (09/11/2026) was Rosh Hashanah in the Jewish calendar and the start of a New Year. As I was praying about it and researching it further, since it was the 25th anniversary of 9/11, I found out that during Rosh Hashanah and the 10 days that follow, culminating in Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), in Jewish tradition, the King is considered to be in the field, not in the palace, and therefore even more approachable to His people.

This is a time of self-reflection and repentance, looking to not bring past patterns or mistakes into the new year, but instead embracing new commitment, surrender, and new beginnings in our walk with Jesus. He is not far from us, and although we would be deserving of judgment instead, in His love, He is a merciful King.

So now, with this understanding, it was as if during the month of August, while I was painting, He was preparing me, declaring through me and through the painting what He had ahead. While I was painting, He said, “blue flowers,” and I didn't understand. Even after finishing the painting, I asked, “Why blue flowers?” And there was still no answer at the time.

As I took time again to take pictures and pray about what He is showing me, I asked again, “Why the blue flowers?” Today He said, “The flag of Israel.”

I am not Jewish, but I do believe the Jewish people to be descendants of Isaac, the Son of the Promise, and God’s chosen people. Jesus came to fulfill the law, and every Jewish feast and all the Scriptures in the Old Testament point to Him. Jesus loves us all and came for all of us, but first to the Jews, and the Bible says that through Abraham, all nations on earth would be blessed.

As I researched Israel’s flag, it mentioned how it was inspired by the tallit (prayer shawl), which aligns perfectly with this time of seeking the King, crowning Him as Lord of our lives, and surrendering to Him as a new year begins.

I feel so in awe of the Holy Spirit, in how He tenderly teaches us. Sometimes, we do not have to understand it all to follow or be obedient. As we are, He gently reveals and teaches us at the right time, when we are ready to receive and understand.

Jesus, I crown You King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I declare You are the King of my life. I surrender to Your plans and purposes yet again, for Your thoughts and Your plans are higher than mine. Forgive me for the times this past year when I tried to take control or to do things my own way. Your way is better, and I surrender once again.

Thank You for being in the field. Thank You for Your mercy and love. Thank You for helping me realign and refocus on You and Your ways.

May this painting show others, as You have shown me, that You are not far, that You love them, and that You are not hard to find. Thank You for being a loving and merciful King, and may they surrender to Your love and Your Kingship over their lives and walk in the freedom that You provided to us through Your sacrifice.
