  • This was the first time I have done a live painting during a regular worship service. When our church's art director asked me, I hesitated because it takes me a while to paint, sometimes days, sometimes even months. But after I left, the Lord rebuked me and I asked Him forguiveness. He said: " Do you trust me?"

Painting is very personal and private for me. When I paint,  it is usually a time I am spending with the Lord. Painting has never been about performance or to impress anyone, but one of the ways the Lord is teaching me to hear Him, to express what I am listening, or seeing and just a sweet time in His presence. So painting in front of others was intimidating and I told Him, I didn't want to focus on anything or anyone, but Him, no matter if I was doing privately or in front of other people.

That week I had gone on a run, and during one of the stops the numbers 1610 caught my attention. When I got home, I looked for scriptures that had 16:10 and John 16:10 was the one the Lord guided me to focus on. It spoke about the Holy Spirit teaching us about God's righteousness.

" It's to your advantage that I go away, for if I don't go away the Divine Encourager will not be released to you. But after I depart, I will send him to you. And when He comes, He will expose sin and prove that the world is wrong about God's righteousness and His judgements." John 16:7-8(TPT)

"God's righteousness, because I am going back to join the Father and you'll see me no longer. John 16:10(TPT)

So I started praying for the Holy Spirit to teach me about God's Righteousness. I also read Exodus 16:10, and in that text it talks about the Glory of God.

On a previous Sunday during worship, I had seen hues of blue and when I read about God's righteousness I remembered. ABBA lead me to look into hues of blue and from there I did a bit of research on blue fire which is the hottest and most pure usually having oxygen as its source.

The Lord is so beautiful in how He teaches us of himself and brings new understanding and relevation to His word. With oxygen, he reminded me of the Holy Spirit as the Breath of God, and also how God breathed life into Adam. He also was talking to me about pure worship, that as it is Holy Spirit breathed than there is no residue, no smoke, no ashes, but it is all consumed for our God is a consuming fire.

The day I had seen the blue hues in service was Pentecost Sunday and our Pastor preached on the disciples receiving the Holy Spirit. In my mind, I always saw the flames of fire in Acts as red flames, but after seeing the blue hues and what the Lord was teaching me, I truly believe the flames that day were blue. It also made me think about the Pilar of Cloud during the day for the Israelites and the Pilar of Fire at night, again, I always envisioned it as red and orange, but I believe the Lord is showing me it was actually blue, pure fire flames.

All this was inspiration for this painting as glimpses of revelations ABBA is giving me about His righteousness. There is so much to learn from Him and at His feet. I am a visual learner and He started through color to give me deeper understanding of Himself and of His word.

I trusted Him as He told me, and He guided me on what to paint and how to paint, and I was able to complete within the given time. He is so faithful!

I pray this painting encourages you to never get bored with the Father, but to continue to daily discover all that He wants to teach you personally.
