Introduction

Jazmine Barnett is a prophetic painter based in Louisville, Kentucky. For the past three years, she’s been creating artwork led by the Holy Spirit—whether painting live during worship or working quietly in her studio. Her goal is simple: to reflect what God is showing her in a way that helps others see Him more clearly.

Question: Tell us about yourself and how your relationship with Jesus started?

Answer: I came to know Jesus through my home church. I got saved in 2016. I developed a true relationship with Him when I was about 18—one for myself. As I went off to college, I decided on ministry school, where everything truly began for me.

Question: When did you start painting and how do you find inspiration for your art pieces?

Answer: I started painting prophetically in my first year of ministry school in 2024. I have only been doing it for about a year now. I have always drawn and sketched, but only started painting this first year of ministry school.

Question: What does your process of painting looks like?

Answer: Prayer—for everything, it starts with prayer. Typically, the Lord speaks to me or burdens me to pray for something. That gives me my next image. It comes like a stamp on my head—an image I can’t get away from.

Question: Could you share your process of creating an art piece describing a recent painting?

Answer: My recent piece I have sketched out in pencil, and have been trying to complete it. I was at my church’s youth camp when the Lord opened me up to a vision: the 4 horsemen running around a clock, with the Earth behind it. Some scriptures I have sought out to make sense of it all are Revelation 6:1–8 and Zechariah 6.
